Reduce Your Arizona Energy Bills with These Online Resources

Green Energy SavingsSummer is here. In Arizona that often means sky-high energy bills, but it does not have to for you.

Earlier this month, we brought you 5 ways to reduce energy use while on summer vacation. This time, we take a look at several helpful online resources that can help you measure and reduce your home’s energy consumption.

Your Utility Company

There are two utility companies serving the Phoenix metropolitan area, SRP and APS. Both companies have websites that contain a variety of energy-saving tips and tricks. Probably the most helpful resource is the ability to perform an online energy audit using your home’s actual energy consumption.

SRP’s Home Energy Manager – After logging into your account, SRP’s Home Energy Manager shows you how your energy consumption compares to similar homes in your area and gives you suggestions to improve your home’s energy efficiency. This online tool can also calculate how much money you can save with energy upgrades.

Energy Analyzer from APS – Similar to SRP’s Home Energy Manager, after logging into your account the Energy Analyzer from APS will show you how your home uses energy and ways you can reduce your energy consumption. There is also an option for people without online accounts.

Other Online Resources

In addition to these tools, there are many other online resources you can use to reduce the energy consumption of your Arizona home this summer. A few of them are listed below.

ENERGY STAR – ENERGY STAR is a program run by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Like the utility companies listed above, they also have an online home energy audit tool called the ENERGY STAR Home Advisor. Another great online resource from ENERGY STAR is this interactive tool that lets you view energy-saving tips by room.

Energy Savers – A website created by the U.S. Department of Energy, Energy Savers focuses on tangible ways to save money at home. Download an ebook that walks you through saving energy throughout your home or view the tips on their website.

Energy.gov – Under the home section of this website, you can read helpful articles and view informative (and humorous) videos that reveal great energy saving options for your Arizona home.

Make a commitment to lower energy bills this summer by using these online resources and applying them to your home.
